- According to Charlie Bradley of the wonderful RailFan web site, "this photo of New York Central L2d Mohawk 4-8-2 #2996, was taken on June 19, 1950. These engines were built in the early 20's. Note the Plaza, Grauert Causeway, and the soldiers and sailors monument above. Pershing Road is to the right of the picture. It appears the engine is headed to the service track for coal and water."
