Title: First Street Renamed to Cooper Place
Description: This letter was sent from Mayor Meister to Weehawken resident Paul Marsicano on April 24, 1940, acknowledging the implementation of his suggestion to rename First Street for resident Alvah Cooper, who at 85 years old, was the oldest resident on the block and had resided at 15 First Street for 41 years. Also an undated newspaper clipping about the street name change and its namesake. Many thanks to Dennis Cosgrove for this great piece of local history!
